Registration Fees
The registration fees cover the core conference activities. All sessions will be held at the Shaw Conference Centre in downtown Edmonton, within a few minutes walking or light rail transit from your accommodation.
Registration fees cover:
- Opening Ceremony Dinner at Fort Edmonton Park;
- Delegate Conference Kit with a USB with containing conference materials;
- Daily Conference Sessions at the Shaw Conference Centre May 26, 27 and 29th;
- Morning and Afternoon Coffee Breaks;
- Transportation to Opening Ceremony;
- Reduced cost to attend the "Celebrating the Global Commons Banquet" (May 29th 2015).
- Support from management and supporting staff from both the Organizing Committee as well as the IASC; for the latter, a fixed management fee of US$50 is applicable, this fee however is only meant for covering the expenses of the IASC for this conference and does not include any membership of the IASC. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Registration refunds will be payable for written cancellations received up to the applicable refund deadline. To cancel your registration, send an email stating your intent to cancel to kljansen@ualberta.ca
Requests received:
- by March 15, 2015 will be refunded 50% of their registration fee,
- by March 30, 2015 will be refunded 25% of their registration fee,
- after March 30, 2015 no refund available.

Accompanying Persons
Are you bringing a family member or friend along to Edmonton who is not too interested in the main event? If they are only interested in the opening ceremony dinner, field trips or the banquet, we offer a separate rate just for these activities, which you can add in your registration. If they are attending any of the main conference events however, they must register as a full participant.
Accommodations are not included in the registration. We have blocked hotel style guest rooms and shared dormitory rooms for 400 participants in Lister Conference Centre (Lister Hall) which is conveniently located on the University of Alberta campus. Additional hotel rooms have been blocked with reduced group booking rates at three downtown hotels. Check out the information on our Accommodations page for more information. Those located at Lister Centre are a 10-minute light rail transit ride (LRT) from the main venue - Shaw Conference Centre. Downtown hotels are within walking distance of the Shaw Conference Centre. Book directly with Lister Hall or with hotels according to the information on Accommodations page of the website. Reduced rates and availability for IASC 2015 participants will only be available until April 1st.

The pre conference workshops will be held at Lister Centre at the University of Alberta on May 25th. The workshops will allow for informal dialogue and discussion between academics and practitioners, government, and community leaders on a range of themes. Don't forget to choose the 1/2 workshops you wish to attend when registering.
Opening Ceremonies at Fort Edmonton Park

IASC 2015 will open at Fort Edmonton Park, which is located in the beautiful North Saskatchewan River Valley. In collaboration with Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta, we will provide a ceremonial welcome, dinner and a little bit of fun!

Field trips are an important feature of previous IASC Conferences and are scheduled for May 28, 2015. The purpose of the field trips is to create learning opportunities with the local community and environment and create dialogue and networking among local residents and conference participants. In Edmonton and the surrounding rural Alberta region, there are numerous opportunities to explore the commons and the opportunities and challenges of managing commons in a province not perceived to be "green" in politics or landscape. May 24-25, 2015 & May 30-June 1, 2015
Many interesting learning opportunities exist further afield in Alberta. Field trips before and after the conference have been organized for those seeking to spend some time in the provocative oil sands region or to kickback in the contemplative surrounds of the Canadian Rocky Mountains (Jasper National Park). But are you interested in a visit to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Waterton Lakes? A side trip to the Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut? A writing retreat in Banff National Park? Let us know what is on your wish list and we will do our best to find you the connections and information you need.
Celebrating the Global Commons Banquet

The banquet will be hosted at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. The centre is located in downtown Edmonton - the evening event will provide you with beautiful views of the river valley and a sunset view of the city. The banquet will celebrate the very multi-cultural nature of Edmonton and the global constituency of the IASC community. Local music and dance from the heritage community and a selection of Alberta's local foods will also be featured.
Support for the Association and Secretariat
The International Association for the Study of the Commons is an organization with a 30 year history of support for commons research and networking. Those attending the conference are asked to contribute to the sustainability of the organization by becoming members of IASC.

REGISTRATION REMINDER to PRESENTERS - PLEASE COMPLETE REGISTRATION BY APRIL 15, 2015.
ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE REGISTERED will be INCLUDED IN THE CONFERENCE SCHEDULE and PROGRAM.
All are welcome to attend IASC 2015. We have received over 800 abstracts from academics, practitioners, government resource people, NGO representatives and community leaders from over 60 countries - presentations will focus on a range of social, economic and environmental themes. We hope to stimulate dialogue and critical thinking about issues globally and locally. Get involved in discussions on such issues as water governance, food security, climate change, community-based forestry and marine ecosystem health. Learn and share ideas at workshops, diverse concurrent sessions and field trips. Take advantage of some pre and post conference activities such as a Tour of the Alberta Oil Sands and hiking in Jasper National Park. Registration at IASC 2015 is required of all participants. Participants are encouraged to become members of IASC to support the organization and achieve the discounted registration rate. Fee structures are based on IASC membership, income level and registration period. We ask that registrants honour the income fee structure so that we are able to equitably cover the costs of the conference.
