Glacier Trekking

You will be traveling with the Jasper group on the same bus and staying at the same hotel. You will depart for the Icefields at 9am and return by 3pm to Jasper.

What to Bring/Expect

Weather in the mountains can be very unpredictable. Please bring layered clothing, rain jacket, sweater, warm underlayers and a hat and mitts as well as clothes for warmer weather, it could snow but it could also be 20 degrees celcius and sunny! You will also find a small backpack, water bottle, travel mug and sturdy footwear a must. Sunscreen and bugspray may be helpful and of course do not forget your camera!

We are hoping to have the whole group stop at Miette Hot Springs on the drive back to Edmonton. If the bus departs Jasper by 9:30am on Monday morning arriving at Miette at 10:30am stay for a couple hours before departing back to Edmonton arriving in Edmonton by 4pm on June 1.

If we are able to arrange this you will want to bring your bathing suit! Miette does also offer bathing suit rentals which are very suitable and in a very retro fashion.

One- day Fieldtrip Information

All fieldtrips except #1 will require participants to bring their own lunch, you may purchase a box lunch through our online registration system BEFORE MAY 22.

If you have not purchased a lunch by that time you will want to ensure that you bring food and water with you on your trip as the fees for fieldtrips do not include food costs. Most trips will be from 9:00am to 2:00pm

Lunches will be picked up in Lister Conference Centre

All trips will have some or all of the time spent outdoors so sturdy footwear, a rain jacket and layered clothing are strongly recommended. Sunscreen and bug spray are also a good idea.

A smallback, water bottle/travel mug are also items you may find useful.

Please arrive at Lister Hall for departure by 8:45am on May 28th.

Trips using a school bus will depart from Jubilee Auditorium, trips using a van will depart from Lister Hall - see detailed program in your conference package for this information and maps of these areas.
